No worries! Calligraphy focuses on learning the basic strokes that form each letter regardless of your handwriting skills. With practice and guidance, anyone can create beautiful, stylized lettering!

Just bring your enthusiasm and be ready for hands-on writing! All materials and supplies will be provided on the day of the event.

What’s included for each workshop?

Each brush calligraphy workshop includes a starter calligraphy kit with brush pens, lesson materials, practice sheets, and final project materials to use in class and take home. ‍

If you purchased a bundled workshop package, you will receive a starter calligraphy kit during the first class. We will use the same set of brush pens for all classes in the series, so please bring your brush pens with you to every session.

Refunds are not available unless the workshop is cancelled by the instructor due to unforeseen circumstances.

If you purchased a bundled workshop package, because spots and materials are reserved for the full series, refunds are not available for missed classes. If the series is offered again later in the year, participants who miss a session may have the opportunity to attend a make-up class based on availability.

Brush calligraphy is the art of writing that uses a brush pen which has a flexible tip to create thick and thin strokes for each letter. It is different from pointed pen calligraphy, which uses a traditional metal nib that is dipped into ink when writing.

Modern calligraphy is an expressive style of lettering that goes beyond the traditional script and allows you to play with the letter forms to establish your own contemporary style.

You can use any writing instrument when writing modern calligraphy including brush pen or pointed pen.

Our mini workshops feature monoline pens which make a consistent, even line regardless of how much pressure applied. They’re perfect for learning modern calligraphy because you can focus on creating different letter forms without worrying about thick and thin strokes.
